A Bit About Me

My name is Isha and my preferred pronouns are she/her. I believe in the strength of places, particularly those that welcome and accept you in your most authentic expression, in shaping our lives. Through my practice I strive to offer such a space to the best of my ability. My stance is driven by curiosity, exploration, and openness. The hope is to together build a space where you can take the lead, and connect with your values.

Over the years I have learnt that the ways in which we take care of ourselves also evolves, often making it 'appear' rather atypical. I have grown curious about these innovative and radical paths that lead to self-preservation. There is a lot of intuition and wisdom in how our bodies respond, and I attempt to welcome that in my conversations. I am someone who is drawn towards art, metaphors, poetry, and all that is abstract, and I invite them in my sessions as well.

What I can offer

My practice draws from multiple therapeutic lenses with a strong focus on narrative, solution-focused behavioural, and somatic psychotherapy. In sessions, we together co-construct perspectives and paths that are reflective of your values, and attempt to encourage intuitive awareness of emotional-physical needs through mindfulness and strength based work. I have completed my training in the Master's Program of Applied Psychology with a specialisation in Counselling Psychology from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. I am currently engaged in a year long Diploma Course in Narrative Therapy and Community Work, by Dulwich Centre Foundation in Collaboration with Children First. I primarily with adolescents, adults and families, and have recently created space for Couple sessions.

Therapeutically, some of the common areas that I have experience working with are anxiety, panic attacks, obsessive-compulsive patterns, neurodivergence, complex trauma, depression, and interpersonal relationships. Given my therapeutic approach, these concerns are understood with the social context in which they might appear. As needed joint (dyadic and family) sessions are also suggested. In case you or anyone you know are looking for a therapeutic space, you can submit an inquiry or write an email.

As a researcher, I am interested in how societal norms, historical events, and community beliefs shape personal decisions, choices of regulation, and self-view. Currently, I am focused on the intersection of social location, relationship styles, and self in relationships in talk therapy. My preferred analysis methods are qualitative in nature, particularly thematic and narrative. I have engaged in research focused on socio-emotional experiences of children independently and with organisations like Child Rights and You, and am also a part of a collective "Out of Bounds" that aims to bring psycho-social ideas from inside and outside the therapy room to the larger audience. If this is something that resonates or compliments your areas of interest and research styles, you can write to me on email.
